Put Up a Barn Owl Box

The barn owl, a once common distinctive bird, has declined to such an extent that they are now rare across Britain.  Many reasons have been suggested for their decline but the loss of nesting and roosting sites have been a contributory factor.  Barn owls feed mainly on small mammals and in order to breed successfully they require a constant source of prey and therefore habitat that supports small mammals - rough pasture, unimproved grassland and field margins.

To find out more about barn owls on farms you can download the FWAG information leaflet below.  The Barn Owl Trust provides a wealth of advice on how to build a barn owl box and where to site it.
