A change in political climate

Northern Ireland is currently witnessing a changing political climate, FWAG would like to see this progress into a forward thinking farming society. Sustainable incentives would encourage us in the right direction. Wind energy, biomass, anerobic digesters, local accredited food markets, with joined up thinking encouraging tourism to help push forward an innovative industry wherever possible. Our current farmer’s average age is 59 or 60 years of age and, without a proper return for our produce the future has little prospect of enticing sufficient young people into farming.

Farming needs good representation and cooperation from both governmental organisations and non-governmental organisations. There is a genuine need to give value back to food and recognise that our food does reflect our environment.

FWAG NI as a charity organisation need your support, to help deliver change. We are constantly looking for progressive projects that can help farming and the environment, you can support us by joining.

FWAG NI have 3 staff at our Magherafelt office. All 3 farm and work, we also have a wealth of staff support throughout the UK, ranging from environmentalists to farmers, agronomists, food specialists and volunteers.
