Farm Conservation Guide is re-printed in 2009

to celebrate FWAG's 40th anniversary

In 1988 FWAG published the first edition of its widely acclaimed "Farm Conservation Guide".  This pocket book provided practical advice and information for farmers and land managers about the management of wildlife habitats in a commonsense, straightforward and easily understood format.  Many of the actions could be undertaken as part of the daily farming routine within the context of a planning management regime.  The Guide helped farmers identify important wildlife habitats and indicated how they should be managed, whilst encouraging a whole farm approach to conservation.  The Guide was broken down into separate chapters for different aspects of farm conservation: watercourses and wetlands, trees and shrubs, field margins and grassland to name a few.  Such was the popularity of the Guide that a re-print was commissioned in 1995.

To mark FWAG's 40th anniversary year a third, updated edition of the FWAG Farm Conservation Guide has been published.  Sponsorship has been received from Coombe Farm Organic, one of the most modern organic dairy facilities in the UK based in Somerset.   And we are delighted to announce that HRH The Princess Royal has written the foreword to the Guide,   The 2009 edition of the Guide includes for the first time case studies of farms that have received FWAG advice and will also cover current resource protection issues.
