FWAG Here to help with Entry Level Schemes
"It is now almost 5 years since the Entry Level Stewardship (ELS) started with some of the early agreements finishing in 2010, so now is a good time to be considering your ELS renewal" says Caroline Hanks, Herefordshire FWAG Adviser.
FWAG are upbeat about their members renewing schemes, pointing out that "we are finding that even where farmers need to choose new options to replace the management plans that are no longer available in ELS, there is generally no problem in collecting enough points to enter the scheme". There are several new options including many that meet the targets set by the Campaign for the Farmed Environment, and these are all clearly laid out in the new ELS handbook which can be ordered from the Natural England helpline on 0300 060 1115.
Natural England has a rolling programme to help farmers through the renewal process. Those with August 2010 renewals should already have had a letter or phone call from... More...
